HON.UKO NKOLE TOWN HALL MEETING WITH ABAM PEOPLE

On Monday, 4th December, 2017, I had a fruitful town hall meeting with the good people of all the villages in Abam Clan ,@ the Ozu Abam Town Hall and an interactive session with chairmen and delegates of the youths association from the 26 villages in Ohafia Clan at my country home, Abam.
Both meetings gave me the opportunity to present my scorecard and as well address some issues affecting our constituency.
In the earlier meeting, issue of over billing of Abam community by the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company was well deliberated . We resolved that EEDC should provide and install prepaid bulk meters on the interim and meter all individual customers within the next 2years in line with extant rules and regulations.
For this purpose a committee chaired by Chief Daniel Abah , co-chaired by the Abam Development Union Secretary, Chief Njoku Chibueze , Hon. Orji Kalu Okorie as the Secretary, with councillors of Abam wards, village youth chairmen ,local town union chairmen both men and women wing and all the Eze Ogos whose communities are served with power supply as members was set up. To interface with EEDC staff on the timely implementation of the above resolution in particular resolving all the issues of bills payments,restoration of power supply to Atani Idima Abam villages respectively and Oboro Ohafia .
ii)EEDC was also mandated to extend power supply to Ndi Agwu ,Ndi Ite,Itum Abam villages being part of their core mandate while I equally continue the pursuit of the realization of same project through the relevant FG agency Rural Electrification Agency.
2. I also informed them that the Federal Ministry of works has advertised tender for pre-qualification for the rehabilitation of Bende-Arochukwu-Ohafia road section 11 in Abia State which was attracted by me in the course of 2017 budgeting year and advised constituents that posses competences to bid for possible award of the rehabilitation contract.
3. On the collapsed Ndi Ebe bridge, I informed the house that procurement for the reconstruction by the relevant Government Agency handling the project has been successfully completed awaiting release of funds from Mr President to enable the Agency commence the immediate reconstruction of the collapsed bridge.
4. Briefing the fora further;
Under human capital development, I informed the house that through the grace of God, I have been able to give employment opportunities to 30 graduates; 26 in the Federal Civil Service while 10 others are in private sector.The names and respective villages of the beneficiaries were also disclosed and they were well acknowledged and gratitudes shown by the affected communities while I assured them of future plans to engage more of our unemployed youths once the opportunity is available especially to areas that are yet to benefit.
5.2016 Capital Projects/Constituency Executed Projects;
a)Restoration of Highlift pump and reactivation of Elu water scheme Ohafia.
b) A water project at Ndi Okereke Abam.
c) A surface water scheme and treatment plant at Abam still under construction.
d) Ibina Ohafia water scheme.
e) Water reticulation at Eziukwu and Mgbaga from Ekeluogo water scheme in Ebem Ohafia.
f) Rehabilitation of Ishi Mmiri water scheme at Elu Ohafia.
g) Influenced the return to site of the contractor handling the rehabilitation of the Arochukwu- Ohafia- Abiriba federal road, Beks Kimse Nigeria Limited.
h) Anyim bridge at Atani Abam.
i) Afagala bridge Idima Abam
k) Construction of one bedroom apartment each for widows in Mgbaga, Ebem Ohafia and Ndi Ememe Abam.
i) Construction of a standard health centre at Ndi Ememe Abam.
j) Supported financially the 2015/2016 CHAMA free medical scheme for those that undergone surgery.
k) Ongoing construction of five classroom block in Amankwu, Ohafia.
l) Partnered with CHAMA (a Canada based NGO) to build a six classroom block in Ndi Aku Ohafia which base existed for 100 years without any any elementary school.
m) Registration of First School Leaving Certificate Examination for over 500 indigent pupils in Arochukwu and Ohafia.
n) Perimeter Fencing of Ozu Abam Primary Health centre.
o) Took over the completion of corpers a project initiated by Amuru Development Union women wing Amuru Abam.
p) Built and equipped an E-learning laboratory with solar based power system for Abam High School, Ozu Abam.
q) A solar street light for Okagwe and Nkwebi Ohafia.
r) Provision and distribution of five transformers for the following: Abam community, Timber shade, Ebem, Hospital road, Elu, Isiama layout, Amaekpu and Akanu Ohafia.
s) Donation of aluminium conductors to the following communities of Ihechiowa clan UMUZOMGBO and NDI OKPO.
t) Donation of some bags of cement to Elu Ohafia community for drainage work.
U)Rebuilt the Administrative block of Nkporo Comprehensive Secondary school with modern toilet and office furniture.
V) Supply of 100 seater school desk to Nkporo Comprehensive Secondary school.
W) Rehabilitation of Abiriba Water scheme.
6.2017 Constituency Projects are yet to be implemented by the executive arm and that we should exercise patience pending releases of funds to the MDAs to execute the projects that will cut across most communities that are yet to benefit .
7. I also briefed the fora on the timely effort of the Governor, Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu especially in regards to funds released to the contractors handling the construction of Ozu Abam -Ndi Oji Abam -Arochukwu road/bridge and the Bende-Idima Abam Roads are achieved early.
8.In their response, the Fora commended the efforts of the Governor/Deputy and my unprecedented giant strides in the constituency and prayed for Gods protection and Unanimously pledged their support come 2019 God sparing our lives.
