under the National Youth Service Corps, injunction with The Nigeria Red Cross Society, Ohafia L.G.A. Zone, recently held a Medical Outreach at Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State in furtherance of their effort to make health care service closer to the less privileged in the community. The CDS Group, which was supported by registered Nurses and two Medical Doctors, provided free medical tests and drugs during the exercise.

Over 150 inhabitants of the community attended the program – cutting across women, children and elderly. The CDS wish to carry out more projects whereby they would be able to reach out and educate the community on health issues in order to have a safer environment to live in. However, the Group calls on the Federal Government to support expansion of the scope of this service across the country, particular in the area of funding – as the Group encountered challenges in meeting the medical needs of the teeming community members that attended the exercise.
