My name is Anumaka Michael, I am 27years old. I graduated with a second class degree honor, from Federal University Of Technology, Owerri, in Biafra land. While the agitations were going on last year, I felt that I was too intelligent to join the mass in the restoration of Biafra. When the protests are going on, instead of me to join the yelling crowd, I will quietly pass them, shaking my head and saying, “Bunch of illiterates yelling.” I behave this way till I saw a man wearing a Biafra clothe, I called him and ask him, “can you defend what you are yelling for?” If battle starts now, can you stand?” He looked at me and said, “Do I look like someone who is scared of dying?” Listen carefully, I am done with Nigeria, I rather die than to accept one Nigeria. He walked out from my site, I said oh God rescue these people. One day, I heard that the Nigerian military has opened fire against the Biafran protesters, I was like, I thought this should be a peaceful protest? Why army shooting these people? I asked myself.
The next day, I got a call from my best friend, he told me that his elder brother had been killed due to the Biafra protest. I shouted WHAT!!! Why would he join those illiterates to protest, he said, not everyone is an illiterate. He dropped the call. I ran to his place and saw huge amount of graduates wearing Biafra clothes. I was like, whats happening. The death of this guy really touched my soul. While I was still mourning, I received a call that my cousin was shot yesterday, at onitcha market. I cried bitterly, I ran out from his house, when I got home I knelt down on my knees and prayed for forgiveness. I sworn that I will never work for Nigeria, all I study in F.U.T.O will be with me till Biafra comes.
I never knew I was insulting my brothers and sisters. I never knew over 70% of those Biafrans are gradutes. I never knew that, the director of Radio Biafra (Nnamdi Kanu) is a graduate. He was captured because he was fighting for my freedom. He was taken away from his wife and family because of the sake of Biafrans. While I was saying this, I was crying bitterly. I promise never to miss any protest anymore. Many have died just for the freedom of Biafra, yet I was busy mocking them. Oh forgive me lord. I will fight for Biafra, my degree will be useless if Nigeria is still one. I will die for Biafra, I do not know when the country will stand but, if I didn’t make it while fighting, please great Biafrans, let my family know that I died trying to get Biafra back.
